Health Programs
By reducing the many challenges our girls face while at school including school dropout and missing exams, AZBGC supported 55 girls with sanitary pads and we continue talking to their parents to take part and spend  more time while at home  with the children to listen to them about their health concerns.
Recreation and Sports
Thank you to all of you who attended the Basketball tournament hosted by AZBGC court at the top of the hill with different schools including, St Mary’s Migadde Senior School and St Bruno. It was great opportunity to play with these schools; we are looking forward to having basketball tournament twice each year.

Income Generating Activities (IGA)
By developing sustainable business (es) for the AZBGC to provide employment, allows all involved to appreciate the benefits of hard work and earn additional income to cover personal costs and costs at the community center and provide training/co-op opportunities; and provide a microfinance fund for startup financing for small, AZGBC youth businesses. During the Education mission in April with Ruth and Linda; changes and recommendations were identified by the youth themselves, and we are happy that the recommendations were approved by the Ottawa Committee and funds were realized to make the improvements.

This month’s special thanks go to:
v  Ruth and Linda yet again was wonderful to be with you and visit the boys and girls and projects face to face.  There in Canada you spend most of your time advocating for the rights of these children and youth in order to bring them a little Hope and Love, however nothing beats taking your time to sit with some the children and listen to their stories face to face. I can say  is the visit  has made  you even  more passionate  about  bringing  hope and love  to boys and girls and the youth and sharing  message with other people.
v  Ottawa Committee members
v  AZBGC Youth committee members
v  Anonymous donors you know who you are
v  The boys and girls who helped so much including the electrician and plumber during their time they spent at the community Centre – we appreciate them very much.
I thank you all once again,

Chris Mutebi
On behalf of the Youth Committee

Good Moments from the Last Year

We have so many great memories from our activities Kamengo in the last twelve  months that we put together a little video to share these good moments :

Shadowing AZBGC’s Project Coordinator, Chris Mutebi, to oversee how things are run

What are AZBGC’s main initiatives? What are they about? The Agnes Zabali Boys and Girls Club is a community center located in Kamengo, Uganda that aims to support education and health care for the people living within Kamengo. The majority of AZBGC’s budget is allocated towards assisting its members—kids who attend AZBGC—with school fees. There are various initiatives that occur through AZBGC, the most prominent being the medical missions, education missions, and infrastructure projects. • The infrastructure projects consist of volunteers assisting the local youth in improving the community center through painting, gardening, and building (construction). • The medical missions consist of volunteer healthcare workers (doctors, nurses, pharmacists, dentists, ophthalmologists, physiotherapists, etc.) offering free consultations/healthcare to Ugandans in the Kamengo/Mpigi district. • The education missions consist of volunteer newly graduated/experienced teachers that collaborate w...

It’s back to school for another term, I can’t believe that we are writing the newsletter for September where has the time gone?  We hope that our boys and girls have all had an amazing holidays and are ready and prepared for the next academic year. September means back to school for many young people in Uganda. Children in Uganda will be returning to school for their third term in September and we are looking forward to seeing them thrive in the next academic year. We will have a chance to meet them all on Saturday 8th this month to share ideas and encourage them to read hard so as to pass exams well for those writing their primary seven, senior four and senior six. Holiday has been good for them, they have participated in number of activities including the basketball training, library and computer with the help from the older youth. Can you support our Education Project? Despite our hard work some children still cannot afford to pay school requirements and they always com...
